The clinic consists of seven individual/family therapy rooms, two group therapy rooms, and a large multi-media observation room. Each therapy room has an adjacent observation area, which affords the option of allowing students and faculty to observe live clinical activity. Each observation room also allows for videotaping, audiotaping, and two-way communication between the therapy and observations rooms. Simultaneous observation and videotaping, as well as video playback are possible in this facility. |
|
Also available in the clinic are computerized scoring and interpretation programs for commonly used psychological testing instruments; a collection of developmentally appropriate toys for play assessments and therapy; portable television/VCR; Macintosh and IBM compatible computers; and a full range of office support machines and supplies. Licensed faculty members closely supervise all clinical activity conducted by graduate students through the use of videotape, audiotape, and live observation in both individual and group supervision formats. Clinical work is practiced in accord with the ethical and legal requirements of the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, and the Pennsylvania Board of Professional Psychology, as well as the mission statements of Marywood University and the Graduate School at Marywood University. |

Research and educational support materials are available in the University's Learning Resources Center, which includes both the Library and the Media Center. It is open 91 hours a week. Full reference service by the professional library faculty is available during all open hours. The University has active subscriptions to 98 print and electronic psychology journals that appear in the American Psychological Association Journal Catalog and an in-depth collection of psychology books, audiotapes, and videotapes. The library also maintains a dynamic web page that contains links to a variety of topic-related databases, including: PsycInfo, ERIC, Contemporary Women's Issues and Social Work Abstracts, as well as multidisciplinary full-text databases such as EBSCO Host's Academic Search, EBSCO Online, IAC's Searchbank, H. W. Wilson's OMNI Megafile, and LEXIS-NEXIS. Students may download or print abstracts and many full-text articles from any networked computer on campus. Access also is available from remote sites, through the library's web page. In addition, the library is a member of several borrowing consortia. The Northeastern Pennsylvania Library Network (NPLN) is the first of these; it is a multi-type library consortium, with full borrowing privileges for members, that will soon implement a virtual union catalog for students. The library is also a member of PALCI (Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc.), a consortium of 37 academic libraries in Pennsylvania, and the OCLC interlibrary loan program, an interlibrary loan program with access to over 42 million items. Finally, the library has an interlibrary loan agreement with the University of Scranton, with requested articles obtained in 24 hours. |
