A: There are many factors that contribute to alcoholism. They include: a person's environment, social support , and circle of friends. Research has shown that alcoholism tends to run in families. However, no genetic marker has been identified.

A: Alcoholism is treatable through self - help groups, therapy, rehabiliation and medications, but NO CURE has been found!
