Marywood Athletic Training Education Program
Application Process

Marywood's Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) is competive and challanging. Upon entering Marywood University you will be placed in the Pre-Professional Phase of the program. During the fall semester you will take an athletic training introductory course (PED 180), where you will learn what athletic training is and who athletic trainers are. In addition you learn what athletic training education entails. In the spring you will enroll in Apprentiship A, where you will be exposed to the different settings that athletic trainers work in. During the spring semester you will apply for the Professional Phase of the program.

The contents included in Part II of the Athletic Training Student Handbook will assist you in applying for admission to the ATEP. All freshmen, transfer, and provisionally admitted students need to apply. Applications will be accepted by the ATEP Director through March 3, 2008.

The ATEP Admissions Committee will review and evaluate applications using an established point system. In order to be eligible for full admission into the program, you must meet the following criteria:

Even if you do not meet one or more of the criteria, you are still encouraged to apply to the program with a goal of receiving provisional admission for one academic year after which you must meet all criteria for full admission.

Once you are admitted to the ATEP you will have to acknowledge that you meet the Athletic Training Education Program Technical Standards forAdmission.

Transfer Policy
Marywood University Athletic Training Education Program accepts transfers into the Athletic Training program under the following conditions:

  1. The student must be accepted to Marywood University.
  2. The student must apply to the ATEP with the same application process as other students. (Admission to the ATEP is competitive and all who apply may not be accepted into the program.)
  3. The student must meet selection criteria.
  4. Didactic course work may be waived based on the content taught in Marywood University courses. It is the responsibility of the student to show proof (syllabus of course) of content that has been completed. The program director will view the proof and determine courses that student will be credited for having taken. Transfer students are held to the same standards that Marywood students are - must earn a C or better in athletic training courses.
All clinical course work must be completed at Marywood University clinical sites.

 

Tuition & Fees:
The tuition costs can be found on pages 32-33 of the Marywood University Undergraduate Catalog 2007-09. In addition to tuition athletic training students will be responsible for the following additional expenses:
