LAURIE McMILLAN Ph.D., Duquesene University Dr. Laurie McMillan grew up outside of Boston and attended Brandeis University, where she earned her B.A. in Psychology and a Certificate in Elementary Education (1991). After teaching at the elementary level for a few years, Laurie moved to the Pittsburgh area to attend Duquesene University, earning her M.A. (1998) and Ph.D. (2004) in English Literature as well as a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies (2004). Her areas of specialization include composition, twentieth-century American Literature, and feminist theory. Laurie joined the Marywood English Department in 2005. In addition to enjoying teaching, Laurie is interested in supporting undergraduate writing across disciplines and researching feminist approaches to writing and rhetoric.
